Eagle Rock Dream Fixer
The pandemic hit and suddenly we were tasked with the impossible decision: which friendships am I willing to possibly maybe probably not but slim chance die for?
Groceries were wiped down with disinfectant wipes, we shouted pleasantries from opposing sidewalks, and overnight many of us became school teachers. The kindergarten curriculum was foreign to me so I just began teaching everything I know. Here are some basic fractions, here is a jumping jack, here is how to make a to-do list. A praying mantis flew into our house, we caged her and named her Manta.
A few weeks in we were told we could take walks around our neighborhood. Thus Annemarie and I began taking night walks after our littles went to bed. We'd stroll and talk and dream of what we wanted to be doing: writing. The path to writing plan for me would be- become a realtor and make enough money to write without worrying about cash flow. For Annemarie it would be- get into a PHD program and enter a life of writing by way of academia.
For months before I got my license we would text properties back and forth bemoaning updated gray floors. We visited open houses and six weeks after I got my license - we found it.
Wildly enough Annemarie had pointed this house out on one of our first walks months prior. "Why can't I buy that house? That house is perfect."
Previously owned by the set designer for Xanadu this unique 1930's home had cedar shake siding, a brick path terraced yard, and a need for some loving new owners to fix her up.
We wrote an offer - all contingencies in place, countered, and were accepted!
21 days later keys were delivered! The seeds of House Wishery were planted.
